Our affiliated district Venturer Unit JETS (Joint Eastern Towns Sherbrooke) now has a new website at http://jets-venturers.yolasite.com/ Please visit the site to learn more about JETS - they are the one of the options for the next step after Scouting. Most Emerald Scouts go up to JETS. |

Troop Council has decided that since there is so much flux and change within the troop with many of the older Scouts heading off to Venturers and many new friends coming up from Cubs that we have expanded from three to four patrols and to ensure loyalty to the new patrols they all have new names.
We now have The Drop Bears, Panthers, Tassie Tigers, and Platypus. PLs have been settled but APL have been deliberately left vacant. During Term 1 it is your opportunity to impress your PL that you deserve to be the APL and that you can handle the role. This allocation of Scouts to Patrols has been decided by Troop Council and is on a trial basis. If there are personality issues then there are likely to be changes. |

Under the new fire rules, the following practices have been implemented at Emerald. On days of Total Fire Ban or Extreme Fire Conditions (or worse) in our area Scouting activities (both hall and outside) will be cancelled. Conditions will be reviewed prior to departing for camps and the call to go or no go made as early as possible. Should conditions change in the area we are camping unexpectedly then expect a phone call to come and get your Scout. We expect parents to pro-actively monitor the weather conditions and not simply rely on Leaders to make the call. |
